Happy Rapture Day…. again.
I grew up in the Evangelical church and was taught this concept of Rapture. I also wrote about it (and religious trauma) in my novels, SHIRTS AND SKINS and TO REFRAIN FROM EMBRACING.
Seems this latest bout of religious psychosis is being pushed by social media. But tomorrow they will shrug their shoulders and wait for the next time someone says the trumpet is about to blow.
Spoiler: the trumpet is never going to blow. I’ll put the scripture Evangelicals use to ‘prove’ Rapture below.
What’s your opinion?
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 King James Version v
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
